In 2013, young breast cancer survivors Chelsea Harper and Brook Irwin co-authored “The Storybook Project,” an innovative, personalized book designed to help “mamas talk to their kiddos about breast cancer.” They raised over $19,000 in a grassroots effort to print, assemble, and distribute a limited edition of their book to families across the United States. Their hope was that this book would be available to many other mamas coping with the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. “The Storybook Project,” illustrated by Penny Hood, represents their enduring love for their own children and other children affected by breast cancer.
Now that Brook and Chelsea are no longer with us and their families, we are continuing their work! Your generous donations will go directly to Stage Two of this project: finding a publisher, creating an online storybook site where families can personalize their own book, and getting this resource to families who need it. Please help us to honor their legacies by giving this book new life. Every bit counts. We are grateful for your support.
